As part of the strengthening of preventive activities arranged by the Provincial Carabinieri Command of Catania, aimed at combating all forms of illegality, to the full advantage of the real and perceived safety of citizens, the Carabinieri of the Mangano Guard Station have reported a 19-year-old from Noto ( SR) for attempted fraud.

The victim of the crime this time, the so-called “mirror scam”, a 56-year-old from Mascali who, aboard her Fiat 500, had evidently been chosen by the young man to be the umpteenth victim of his now “tested technique”, however already known to Local Carabinieri due to his previous similar judicial vicissitudes.

In particular, as subsequently reconstructed by the military, while the woman was walking along the SS. 114 in the direction of Catania, after passing the boy on board his Volkswagen Polo, stopped at the side of the road, she suddenly heard a loud noise on the bodywork of her car, immediately realizing that she was being chased by the 19-year-old who, flashing his lights and honking his horn, ordered her to stop.

A script, however, already known by the lady, whose combative soul had made the usual “theatre” of the 19-year-old ineffective, who after having addressed her in rather disrespectful terms, had contested an alleged contact between the woman’s Fiat 500 and his own parked, sinister vehicle which had caused him to break his external rear-view mirror.

Unfortunately for him, this time the young scammer had come across an undoubtedly energetic and combative opponent, who, not at all intimidated, had assured him reimbursement of the damage, but not before the intervention of the Carabinieri on site, who would have called immediately. .

At that point, the 19-year-old clearly did not appreciate the lady’s proposal, deciding to quickly “remove the curtains” before the military arrived. Visibly annoyed, he then got back into his small car, heading in the direction of Catania without saying anything else to her.

However, the 56-year-old, with a strong civic sense, not happy with the epilogue, also got into the car and followed him for a short distance, even managing to take a photo of the vehicle, and then called the Operations Center of the Carabinieri Company of Acireale and provide them with the vehicle details.

The searches for the suspicious vehicle were therefore immediately sent to all the patrols in the area, an operation which within a few minutes had borne fruit, since a crew from the Mangano Guard Station, hypothesizing the most probable escape route of the vehicle, had managed to intercept and block the 19 year old on the Via Nazionale.

Precisely during the check on the young man, the 56-year-old then arrived and, directly on site, further confirmed to the military that it was indeed the same one.
