A great result for the Forlì Campus, and – more generally – for the Romagna Campuses which for the first time see themselves represented in the Academic Senate of the University of Bologna. The elections took place a few days ago and the positions will be valid for the three-year period 2024-2027, according to the new Statute which provides for the election of five representatives for each scientific-disciplinary area, of which at least three directors; a representative of the Campus Presidents; two representatives of the technical administrative staff. The representative of the Campus presidents has been identified as Professor Emanuele Menegatti, president of the Forlì Campus.

“The revision of the statute has finally allowed one of the representatives of the Romagna campuses to enter the senate for the first time, in fact until now we had a role that we could define as ‘auditors’ – Menegatti’s comment –. This is a recognition very important because this new entry allows us to have a voice and institutional representation which represent a record and well represent the new leading role of the Romagna offices”.

Menegatti obtained 597 votes at the polls: “The result is excellent and is largely due to the unity of us four campus presidents in Romagna who decided to present ourselves with the name of just one candidate. I made myself available and therefore I was chosen – explains the teacher – the choice of colleagues in the area to express themselves in favor with great cohesion also had a positive impact: a result that was not to be taken for granted.”

Among those elected to the Academic Senate, in addition to Menegatti, there are two other names closely linked to Forlì. The first is Roberto Balzani: full professor of contemporary history at the Department of History, Culture and Civilization at the University of Bologna and president of the University Museum System, he was mayor of Forlì from 2009 to 2014. Balzani was elected director of the History department Culture and Civilization of Bologna with 127 votes.

The second is Christopher Rundle: full professor in translation at the Department of Interpreting and Translation of the University of Bologna, Forlì branch, he is also Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Manchester. Rundle was elected director of the Interpreting and Translation department, with 114 votes.
