“The Magical Mystery Story – Now And Then”

SULMONA – Thursday 2 May 2024, at 9 pm, at the Municipal Theater of Sulmona (L’Aquila), “The Magical Mistery Story – Now And Then” will be staged, the new show by The Beatbox dedicated to the history and music of the Beatles .

Through songs, Carlo Massarini’s stories, changes of scene, clothes and musical instruments, over the course of two hours we will get to know and relive the incredible adventure of the Beatles, and how they changed the course of today’s music with their unforgettable songs.

The concert, promoted by the Nomadi Fans Club Cultural Association “Un giorno Insieme” of Sulmona, with the patronage of the Municipality of Sulmona, is included in the program of the new edition of “Music and solidarity – A soundtrack for life” in support of this year of the orthopedics department of Sulmona Hospital. The seats are numbered with reservations required and can also be purchased through the CiaoTickets circuit, even with the culture bonus (for information on the evening you can contact 389 9737620 or write to [email protected]).

On stage The Beatbox, a formation known throughout Europe with hundreds of concerts every year and participation in the major festivals dedicated to the Beatles, made up of four young musicians: Marco Breglia, Filippo Caretti, Michele Caputo and Federico Franchi of the same age as the Beatles, 20 years old era of their debut in the 1960s, who will faithfully interpret the great successes of the Liverpool quartet. Carlo Massarini, well-known presenter and music journalist, during the four changes that characterize the show, will tell the story of the Beatles, revealing anecdotes and curiosities and much more.

To obtain the desired result nothing was left to chance: from the instrumentation, original and identical to that used by the Beatles in their historic concerts and to record the albums, up to the changes of clothes and make-up to make us relive the historical moment. The stage clothes were tailor-made for the band, by the same English tailor who created those of the Fab Four for the American tour. A show that traverses the memories and discoveries of multiple generations and intends to bring back the enthusiasm and positivity of the legendary ’60s. The setlist retraces the historic successes at the Cavern Club in Liverpool up to the masterpieces that preceded the band’s dissolution in 1970.

“The Beatbox are a tribute band that is not a cover band, the tribute bands are the obsessive ones, the ones that have everything exactly the same as the bands they pay homage to, from the clothes to the position of the instruments”, explains Carlo Massarini, “On stage they make a journey from the sixties until the end of the band which revolutionized music in just a few years. And instead I will tell you in four parts a bit of their history and anecdotal, everything that is not known and there are many things to tell. The Beatbox come out at the beginning with the Beatles’ early clothes, then with those from the famous concert on the Ed Sullivan Show, then with the Sgt. Pepper’s costumes and with the Abbey Road clothes to make up the whole final part. The beauty of this show is what I call the impossible concert: Beatbox will play songs that the Beatles never performed live. Since 1966 they have locked themselves in the studio and no longer give concerts for various reasons, because of the amplification which was too small to play, because of the girls’ screams which covered their voices, because they had to escape in armored vehicles and above all because they could not technology wouldn’t allow them to replicate live what they did in the studio.”
