On the occasion of the 9th National Women’s Health Day (22 April 2024), an open week was organized in the Vittorio Emanuele Hospital in Bisceglie from 18 to 24 April promoted by Formazione Onda of the Ministry of Health, dedicated to the protection of women’s health. woman.
The open week was organized with a day for each UO dedicated to a specific health theme.
The Operating Units involved were the following: the UOSVD of Obstetrics and Gynecology which organized a day of gynecological visits and ultrasounds; the Cardiology Unit which carried out ECGs and cardiological examinations; the Internal Medicine Unit which offered metabolic-vascular screening; the UOSVD of Endocrinology which promoted screening for the prevention of thyroid pathology in pregnancy by offering endocrinological consultation and thyroid ultrasound; the Consultancy Assistance Unit of the DSS 5 of Bisceglie which performed pap tests, recalling the patients who had not presented themselves for the screening.
The Bisceglie PO units offered a total of 100 visits with 200 services with total adherence on the part of the women to all the initiatives and great enthusiasm on the part of the Operators, attentive to the issues of primary prevention in women. In consideration of the numerous requests from the female population, a second edition will be organized in June. The Obstetrics and Gynecology Unit of the Bisceglie PO participated in the mapping conducted by the Onda Foundation of the Ministry of Health in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Departments of the hospitals with the pink sticker, aimed at understanding the offer of services dedicated to Primary Prevention in pregnancy and obtained on 10 April 2024 a Parchment of recognition from the Onda Formation in the Senate in Rome for his attention and commitment to the topic.
The Obstetrics and Gynecology Unit of Bisceglie organized numerous initiatives in the years 2023/2024 in collaboration with the DSS 5 and the Consultative Assistance Unit of Bisceglie, with open days relating to specific educational interventions in pregnant women on correct nutrition, promotion physical activity (2 yoga courses), prevention and treatment of mood disorders, information on vaccinations that respect the cornerstones of primary prevention in pregnancy.
During the event on 10 April in Rome, data from a survey by the Onda Foundation with a focus on vaccination during pregnancy was also presented, from which a lack of knowledge on the part of women about vaccinations during pregnancy emerged, with the perception of a unfavorable risk/benefit and difficulty accessing vaccination services.
