The Infiorata association of Montefiore dell’Aso took part in the Festival Arti Effimere in Florence. An event that aims to strengthen the candidacy of the ephemeral arts for UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage, the request for which was sent on 2 April and which has already passed the first phase. The great event was promoted by the Culturalarte association of Noto, the Infiorata association of Montefiore dell’Aso, the sawdust carpet association of Camaiore and the trucioli in arte association of Torricella. “We worked in 13 associations from 7 regions of Italy and 120 flower organizers – says the president of the Montefiore flower show, Graziano Amadio – It was a spectacular event. We created a monumental carpet of flowers and other natural materials. Titled ‘ The wonders of Italian UNESCO, in an entirely ephemeral dream. Florence, which among Italian cities represents one of the richest in works of art, has experienced an extraordinary moment of synthesis between beauties”.

The Italian inflorators and those from Catalonia and Malta have created a unique and original work, using flowers, sawdust, shavings, salt, sand, vegetables, etc., and which shows the greatness and infinite expressive possibilities of this ephemeral art . The carpet is part of the activities that are being developed in Italy, Spain and Malta as part of the Fower Carpets Arts project, selected by the European Commission within the Creative Europe cultural programme. The largest carpet of flowers ever seen in the city of Florence remained on display on Friday and yesterday, and then remained in the memory of those who were lucky enough to be able to admire it. At the center of the large work the UNESCO symbol emerges, while the Florentine lily is repeated at the top of the square. The four circles that make up the geometry contain artistic elements of one or more regions. The first circumference is dedicated to Tuscany and the Marche, taking up the bold face of Michelangelo’s David, the Gothic rose window of the wonderful cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, and one of the towers of the ducal palace of Urbino. The second circumference is dedicated to Lazio, with the Roman Colosseum, and the details of the Villa d’Este and the fountain of San Sebastiano di Genzano. Another circle dedicated to Calabria, with one of the Riace bronzes, to Sardinia with one of the many nuraghi, and the decoration all around inspired by the mosaics of Teramo in Abruzzo. Finally a last circle dedicated to Sicily.
