Cgil and Uil Trapani take a position against the amendment to the PNRR Legislative Decree which paves the way for the presence of pro-life associations in Italian clinics.

“The government’s decision – say the women’s coordinator of the CGIL Francesca Todaro and the head of Uil Equal Opportunity Trapani Antonella Parisi – represents a step backwards for women’s rights and for the principles of self-determination that our society has laboriously achieved”.

“All of this – they add – happens, among other things, precisely when France inserts the right to abortion in the Constitution and the European Parliament voted to include abortion in the Charter of European Rights, thus enshrining both not only the freedom of choice of women as an irrevocable principle, but also demonstrating a strong commitment to the protection and advancement of women’s rights, not only is the rule unacceptable, but the fact that the government has used the funds is also unacceptable. PNRR intended for the hiring of social and healthcare personnel and the increase in public services to support parenting
“The UIL and the CGIL – – conclude Todaro and Parisi – reiterate their firm opposition to any attempt at regression of rights and will continue to fight and monitor to ensure that the counseling centers remain neutral and professional places of support, free from any form of pressure ideological and influences that could compromise access to services and individual freedoms”.
