In other words, Cacciari spoils the party on anti-fascism: “Who comes from the authoritarian risk”

Massimo Cacciari ruins Massimo Gramellini’s plans. The first part of In other words, the La7 program broadcast on Saturday 27 April, is entirely focused on the elusive fascist danger and the controversy of the day linked to the words of General Roberto Vannacci. “Do you see the risks of an authoritarian drift?” the host asks the philosopher. “Yes, and it has nothing to do with fascism and totalitarianism”, replies Cacciari, dismantling the great scaremongering raised by the left against the government of Giorgia Meloni. But then where do the dangers to freedom come from? “The world is in the hands of technical-financial-economic powers that have extraordinary means to govern and manipulate not only our behavior but also our imagination, through the media at their disposal”. In short, the large global platforms come to influence political systems: “There is no longer any need for an authoritarianism that uses direct and immediate violence, there are infinitely more sophisticated means to determine our behaviors”, comments the former mayor of Venice.

In short, “the totalitarianism that awaits us has nothing to do with fascism”, states Cacciari who nevertheless draws applause from the audience when he states that he is “profoundly anti-fascist”, in the sense of operating in compliance with the Constitution.
