Salernitana wakes up in Serie B. Now the verdict is official, unappealable: arithmetic definitively condemns the Granata to relegation four days before the end of the championship. The defeat in Frosinone put an end to Salernitana’s experience in Serie A. Thus ends that dream that began three years ago, with that splendid and, in some ways, unexpected ride that led Castori’s team to triumph. Of that joy, of that happiness, which had the pleasant flavor of surprise, now only the memory and the hope remain that Salernitana and its fans can go back to celebrating, to rejoice like then. To date, however, there is only bitterness, disappointment and regret for what could have been and wasn’t. Salernitana says goodbye to Serie A and puts an end to a season of continuous sacrifices, because this championship has never started for the Granata. This team was relegated long before the arithmetic finally condemned it. Even the cold numbers say it: only two victories, one at home and one away, 23 defeats, in 34 games played, a terrible offensive performance, with 26 goals scored, the same as Empoli, who however then conceded goals 48, while Salernitana, which obviously has the worst defense of the tournament, conceded 73. The numbers certify the disaster. Only in this way can the current Granata championship be defined. And, ironically, in the very round that Salernitana nails, the calendar proposes the challenge between Lecce and Monza. A cross that brings us to mind how three years ago the Castori granata took away that Serie A which was now thrown away. Obviously in this sporting catastrophe it is only the fans who are saved who remind us that, always and in any case, it is not the category that counts.

And in light of the relegation of the Granata, only Colantuono and the defender Pirola spoke after the match against Frosinone. Today, however, Sabatini’s social message shows disappointment and anger. No word from the club, primarily Patron Iervolino, but also from CEO Maurizio Milan or manager Petrucci. Fans would have expected at least a post-match interview or a tweet the next day. Instead, nothing. Just a deafening silence…
