PRE MATCH – Last round of the championship for Latina and Taranto. Pontini fresh from the defeat against Benevento, jonic from the success against Avellino. Fontana lines up a 3-4-2-1 with Marino, Vona and De Santis ahead of Guadagno. Ercolano and Crecco on the lanes, Del Sole and Riccardi in the middle of the field. Mastroianni takes the lead, supported by Paganini and D’Orazio. Capuano responds with the 3-4-3: Vannucchi between the posts; Luciani, Riggio and Enrici in defense. FIRST HALF – In the 5th minute Simeri’s attempted turn was deflected for a corner. After three minutes, a super Vannucchi was ready first on Paganini’s long-range shot, then on D’Orazio’s close-range shot. In the 9th minute Kanoute tries to make himself seen with a shot from distance that ends high. The game is heated and Taranto becomes very dangerous in the 17th minute with a long-range right-footed shot from Zonta deflected into a corner by the excellent Guadagno. In the 27th minute the rossoblù took the lead with a great goal from Zonta himself who, served by Simeri, beat Guadagno on the way out with a precise lob. In the 30th minute Latina tries to react with a header from Mastroianni blocked by Vannucchi. Taranto, however, is in control and in the 34th minute they go up 2-0 thanks to Simeri who, after a muffed shot from Valietti, places the ball at the far post, mocking the opposing goalkeeper. In the 39th minute, Latina came close to scoring with a dangerous attempt by Del Sole deflected for a corner by Vannucchi, the third major intervention of the match.
SECOND HALF – Latina returns better than Taranto. The Pontini team immediately closed the gap with Mastroianni who, following Del Sole’s cross, got the better of Luciani and, with his head, beat Vannucchi. In the 53rd minute Bifulco challenges the Nerazzurri goalkeeper, then shortly afterwards there is a dangerous free kick from D’Orazio which ends up on the crossbar. Capuano tries to rearrange the team by inserting Matera and Orlando for Ladinetti and Kanoute. In the 67th minute Taranto comes back to Guadagni’s side with a right-footed shot from Matera that ends high. Fontana then plays his cards Fabrizi, who takes Mastroianni, and Capanni, who comes in in place of De Santis. Latina gets unbalanced and leaves space in defense, in the 72nd minute Valietti has a good opportunity on his feet but his shot is blocked by a defender. In the last quarter of an hour there was room for Fabbro in place of Bifulco. In the 76th minute Del Sole tries from long range but Vannucchi blocks without problems. Travaglini and De Marchi also enter Taranto for Ferrara and Simeri. In the 84th minute, Latina came close to equalizing again with a header from Capanni that went just wide.
COMMENT – The first forty-five minutes are very enjoyable: Vannucchi denies Latina the goal with a providential double intervention, then the rossoblù take the lead with Zonta assisted by Simeri who, in turn, finds the second goal in the 34th minute, allowing the Ionian team to go all out. half time at 2-0. In the second half the Pontini started better and immediately closed the gap with Mastroianni, even coming close to making it 2-2 in the 56th minute with a crossbar hit by D’Orazio. Taranto then managed to resist and protect the lead, despite the attempts of the Lazio team who came close to equalizing again in the 84th minute with Capanni, also finding opportunities to push forward. A victory which, due to Casertana’s success, does not allow Taranto to finish fourth. Pending the appeal to the CONI Board of Guarantee, the Capuano team closes their championship in fifth place and will begin the playoffs from the first round by facing Latina at the “Iacovone”.
