Fact of the week – Playoffs at risk of postponement: Taranto’s appeal could change the cards on the table

The final verdicts of the field are expected from the final weekend of the regular season, which will precede the playout and playoff queue Serie C, but the latter risk slipping. And the reason is easy to say: on Wednesday evening the CONI Guarantee Board received the appeal forwarded by Taranto against the sentence issued by the FIGC Federal Court of Appeal which confirmed the -4 in the ranking inflicted for administrative violations (more specifically the failure to pay Irpef withholdings and INPS contributions for the two-month period September/October 2023). Penalty that the Ionian club, defended by lawyer Eduardo Chiacchio, aims to cancel or at least halve. Until otherwise communicated, the starting date of the promotion play-offs remains the set date of 4 May for the first round of the group stage. In short, the times are quite tight. We will probably know more in the early days of next week.
