The restoration laboratory of the Eremitani Museum is enriched with a new precious investigation device: thanks to the donation of the Rotary Club of Abano and Montegrotto Terme, a reflectographic device useful for the work of the restorer and the art historian in force is in full use to the staff of the Museum of Medieval and Modern Art.

Implemented in the presence of the director of the Culture sector of the Municipality of Padua, Federica Franzoso, the curator of the Museum of Medieval and Modern Art Elisabetta Gastaldi and the restorer of the Eremitani Museum together with Prof. Giulia Perini, president of the Rotary Club of Abano and Montegrotto, the one donated is a latest generation investigation tool capable of highlighting, thanks to an infrared reading of the materials, the elements underlying the visible layer of the paintings, highlighting any preparatory drawings, repentances and repaintings, which can now already be used on all works undergoing maintenance or restoration within the laboratory.

The restoration laboratory is a fundamental place in the Museum’s heritage conservation strategies because it is the center of the study, prevention and maintenance activities of the works and, thanks to adequate equipment and spaces as well as the presence of highly qualified personnel, it is now also the fulcrum of the activities training of interns from restoration schools.

«The equipment donated by the Rotary Club Abano and Montegrotto Terme, on the initiative of the former president Giuseppe Ferraris De Gaspare, is precious for the conservation activities of the works of our museum heritage but also because it proves the effective synergies that the department of culture of the Municipality of Padua builds between the public sector and the private sector”, said the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Padua.

«The Rotary Club of Abano Terme-Montegrotto Terme has supported and carried forward the project of this Service from the beginning, which responds well to the objectives that Rotary aims at the level of the community to which it belongs. In fact, the service proposed by the member Ferraris, i.e. the provision of a reflectographic device, in addition to concretely contributing to the activities of the restoration laboratory of the Museum of Medieval and Modern Art, a very important cultural heritage of our Paduan community, also responds to a significant training activity in the Laboratory carried out with great skill by the Museum restorer, Dr. Daolio, for young interns from restoration schools. Promoting the cultural activities of the community in which the club operates, developing innovative projects in synergy with high professional profile entities and dedicating our resources to the professional training of the new generations are all objectives that see us committed as Rotary in our realities”, he commented Giulia Perini, president of the Rotary Club of Abano and Montegrotto.
