GARDONE RIVIERA. ”Gardone Riviera new heart of international motoring”, these are the words of the councilor for tourism, territorial marketing and fashion of the Lombardy Region, Barbara Mazzali, to launch a new business model for the Brescia side of Lake Garda. Something that has more to do with the 80s than with the 2024 but anyway, these are the ideas that emerge at a political level. ”Bind motorsports are a traditional attraction for thousands of tourists – observes Mazzali -. In an area like Lake Garda, already a point of reference point for thousands of foreign visitors, the new ‘Made in Italy’ motoring eventit can beand amplified by the fame and beauty of the places which form the backdrop to the competition.”
Places that will certainly benefit from the exhaust pipes of ”motor races” with i foreign tourists which, just as certainly, can onlyto admire‘ The Italian genius that pollutes itself and pollutes its own beauties in order to please them. “The ‘Concorso d’Eleganza Vittoriale’ – continues the councilor – aims to become international point of reference for historic motorsportshere, in the heart of one of the amost tourist areas in Europe, Lake Garda”. And these words were spoken directly on board a historic car that started the race today first edition of the Concorso d’ elegance at the Vittoriale degli italiani which is held today in Gardone Riviera (BS) at the monumental complex of the Vittoriale degli Italiani.
The competition includes the participation of approximately thirty cars, fifteen historic motorcycles, ten aircraft (including seaplanes and airplanes) and ten vintage boats, coming from Italy and Europe. In the context of the competition, the councilor continues, “the monumental complex of the Vittoriale degli italiani, commissioned by the famous poet Gabriele d’Annunzio, also stands as a symbol of an Italianness which finds its uniqueness in what can be seen and touched here today: ingenuity, culture, beauty and elegance”. And thank goodness, one might say.
THE aircraft will fly over the body of water in front of the dock Torre San Marzo, under the Vittoriale, and then return to the departure air base or, as regards seaplanes, moor in the dock itself. Where they will also land the vintage boats competing. Instead it will be possible to admire vintage cars and motorcycles in the dedicated areas of the Vittoriale, set up for the event. Together with the councilor, among the numerous personalities present, also Giordano Bruno Guerri, president of the Vittoriale, who immediately supported the event organized by the association Jurassic Car Club Tatius Nubladus, with the patronage of the Tourism Department of the Lombardy Region, of the municipalities of Gardone Riviera and Castel D’Ario, ACI (Automobile Club Italia) e ACI Historical and with the partnership of the International Motoring Association, The Secret Gate and SARA Assicurazioni and Unidea Assicurazioni.
