Double appointment between the National Gallery of Cosenza and Cattolica of Stilo for the “Music and museum” concert season
The Μου&Μουσ (Music and Museum) concert season continues, conceived by the Animula Cultural Association chaired by Claudio Fittante, and promoted by the Calabria Museums Directorate of Cosenza directed by Filippo Demma.
Saturday 27 April will be the turn of the Vocal and Instrumental Academy, which will bring together for the occasion Maddalena Cefalì (flute), Giovanna Massara (soprano), Claudio Fittante and Fabio Sirianni – historical guitars, in the National Gallery of Cosenza directed by Rossana Baccari .
The proposed program will be a small taste of the immense chamber heritage in use in the nineteenth-century period, with pieces by some of the most representative authors for the original instruments used.
The evident function of dissemination, as well as entertainment, that the chamber genre represented for the society of the time is undisputed, and to which the Opera owes much for the large-scale diffusion of the immense and undisputed lyrical, theatrical and operatic masterpieces , who crossed the doors of the various theatres. The nineteenth-century guitar, born at the end of the 18th century, represented one of the major instruments of musical dissemination and contributed to this task together with instruments such as the violin, the viola, the flute, the fortepiano and others, which began to spread and found placement, as a moment of intimate conviviality and participatory listening, in the living rooms of the nascent middle class. Music by Carulli, Meul, Giuliani, Beethoven will be performed.
On Sunday 28 April the soprano and guitar duo, Giovanna Massara and Claudio Fittante, will embellish “La Cattolica” by Stilo, directed by Camilla Brivio, with nineteenth-century songs performed with guitar-lute and historical guitar in a journey that crosses musical treasures of the time, the object of study and often virtuosic revision by great composers.
