Luigi Einaudi: to celebrate the 150th anniversary of his birth, a theatrical piece by Finazzer Flory at PalabancaEventi

Massimiliano Finazzer Flory

Luigi Einaudi: the Bank of Piacenza organizes an event to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great economist and liberal politician (1874-1961), second President of the Republic. The appointment is Monday 29 April, at 6pm, at the PalabancaEventi in via Mazzini (Sala Corrado Sforza Fogliani). At the center of the celebration, Massimiliano Finazzer Flory proposes the theatrical piece “Useful sermons, not entirely imaginary dialogue: Luigi Einaudi and Corrado Sforza Fogliani”, with musical accompaniment by the maestro Matteo Fedeli (on violin).

Master and disciple

“Know to decide”. Not only a memorable Einaudi motto, but also a moment to reflect on the relationship between knowledge and decision. From here starts the representation – with the theatrical reading of the actor and director, former Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Milan – of an idea around the freedom between a master and a disciple. That is, between Einaudi and Sforza Fogliani, an indirect dialogue that takes inspiration from a letter from 1961: the beginning – with an exchange of letters – of a relationship on freedoms through references and references to classics such as Machiavelli And Manzoni. A tribute to a great servant of the State, Luigi Einaudi, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth, thanks to the thoughts and words of Corrado Sforza Fogliani from Piacenza, who often recalled that «if a people hopes to be free while remaining ignorant, they hope into something that never was and will never be.”

Einaudi in Piacenza

To everyone those in attendance will be given a copy of the volume published by the Bank (edited by Robert Gionelli) “Einaudi in Piacenza in 1949”, which documents the visit of the President of the Republic to our city. «I went there too – wrote Sforza Fogliani in the presentation of the publication – to “see” Einaudi. With dad Raphael, who – in that sea of people – held my hand (I was 10 years and a few months old) so that I wouldn’t get lost. And, in fact, we saw Einaudi up close: we had a – so to speak – “privileged” ticket, the presidential car was driven by our Mario (that when he passed by car with the president – dad didn’t have time to stop me – I greeted him as if he were the president…)».

Entrance at PalabancaEventi with reservation, by writing to the email address [email protected]; or by calling 0523 542441 (Monday to Friday, 9am-1pm and 3pm-5pm).
