VITERBO – It all started with a fight between girls then the situation degenerated with the arrival of their parents. Moments of panic yesterday among passers-by and tourists for one big brawl broke out around 7pm at the Shrine.
Two groups of people faced each other, first trying to hit each other with cars, then once they got out they came to blows. About ten people were involved. Sticks and bars appeared in the fight.
It all happened before the eyes of dozens of passers-by and tourists. Someone even filmed the scene and posted it on social media. In the video we see a car on a pavement with a damaged roof and a man apparently grabbing a bat and screams can be heard. When the police arrive, two men confront each other. The agents manage to divide them. To restore calm, several police and carabinieri patrols and a couple of ambulances rushed to the scene.
In the end, about ten people were taken to the police station to clarify what had happened while a couple reportedly sought treatment in the emergency room. It seems that these are two groups of Italians. The dynamics of what happened, however, are still unclear.
Meanwhile, controversy over safety rages on social media. Many are asking for a permanent police presence at the Shrine.
