Fiumicino among the best airports in the world for safety

Rome Fiumicino airport took the top step of the podium as the best airport in the world for airport security, at the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2024. According to the survey, the Japanese airport of Narita is gaining share, like the most prestigious structures in the world, and Dubai and Hong Kong are gaining numerous places.

First of the Italians, the Rome Fiumicino airport which goes from 13th to 12th place. Leading the 2024 ranking is Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, described as the most architecturally significant terminal in the world, as well as being the most luxurious. Second position for Singapore’s Changi, one of the busiest passenger hubs in Southeast Asia.

The bronze medal goes to South Korea, with Incheon International Airport, which among other things is a former winner of the title of airport of the year at the World Airport Awards.

Japanese double in fourth and fifth place, with the stopovers of Tokyo Haneda and Tokyo Narita. You have to get to the sixth position to find the first European port, which bears the colors of the French flag. This is the Charles de Gaulle in Paris, Air France’s main hub.

Seventh position again in the Emirates, with Dubai International Airport, which among other things was the busiest airport in the world for international passengers in 2022. Monaco, Zurich and Istanbul close the top ten, but you don’t have to wait long to find the first Italian port: in twelfth place, immediately behind Hong Kong (33rd in 2023) is Rome Fiumicino, followed by Vienna, Helsinki Vantaa and Madrid Barajas. The first US airport in the ranking is Seattle, in 24th position. Milan Malpensa is only 88th (it was 86th in 2023) and New York Jfk drops to 93rd position. Detroit (99th) and Berlin Brandenburg (100th) close the ranking.
