«The regulatory and administrative fundamentals are missing»

LADISPOLI – A small “Brexit” on the coast? The question arrives a few days after the arrival in the city council of the “Porta d’Italia” project, the new province that would lead several municipalities to “divorce” from the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital. A project that has been “talked about for 40 years” but which to date has little “in-depth” “arguments”. «Both the regulatory and administrative fundamentals are missing», highlighted the leader of the Pd – La Forza della Comunità group, Silvia Marongiu. From the regulatory dictates, the number of inhabitants necessary for the creation of a new province, she underlined, is not sufficient: «It must not be less than 350 thousand inhabitants». From the point of view of the documents, the dem councilor speaks of “a somewhat empty resolution”. Details that needed to be explored in depth with meetings and discussions despite what actually happened: «In addition to the assembly, a 30-minute commission was held». In short, too little. “What are the benefits? What is the revenue? What is economically and financially sustainable for this institution?” these are just some of the questions posed by Marongiu who in some respects seems to go in the direction traced by mayor Elena Gubetti who from the beginning has shown and said she is skeptical about the possibility of creating a new provincial body. «We need to go into detail and make citizens understand what has arrived from the Metropolitan City», continues Marongiu, speaking of approximately over 60 million euros in two years. And of these funds, some were allocated to the Ladispola city with contributions for the Pnrr, for European planning, … In short: «We must take into account the numbers and above all what repercussions it could have. I wouldn’t want – she continues – for it to be just a moment linked to the European elections and therefore for it to end up in a soap bubble”. The dem councilor, just like his colleague, Roberto Garau returns to highlight how the involvement of citizens is necessary: ”It is not correct that the councilors have to decide on people’s future”.
