“In just a few seconds, a good part of the proceeds of a splendid April 25th went up in smoke.” With these words the Cervi Institute of Gattatico (in the province of Reggio Emilia) comments on the bitter conclusion of yesterday’s day of celebrations for Liberation Day, in which, among others, Maurizio Landini, Romano Prodi and Stefano Bonaccini also participated. In fact, in the evening an employee of the Institute was attacked by a group of people, who then stole a large part of the day’s takings. The investigations are ongoing, started yesterday evening by the Carabinieri. “Fortunately, the attack did not have serious consequences on people,” the Cervi Institute said. Specifying, however, that the damage was not only monetary, but in just a few moments it nullified “the work of many volunteers, of the collaborators of Casa Cervi, and the enthusiasm of a participating and generous public”. President Albertina Soliani defined it as «a slap in the face to all the people of Casa Cervi»: «This House continues to be in the crosshairs, 80 years ago set on fire by fascists, today the target of this aggression». The Institute «is in constant contact with the police forces and the mayors of the area, and has already received in recent hours the solidarity of many citizens and volunteers who remain close to April 25th and to Casa Cervi».
