PESCARA. «It is thanks to that April 25th that we are here today, and it is right to remember it». As Arianna he decided to celebrate the anniversary of the Liberation yesterday at the former Cocco Barracks Park, together with his little girl and the many families involved. An anniversary that, according to Arianna, «is felt less and less. It is no longer natural to remember April 25th, but precisely for this reason it is important to insist and not forget everything that fascism represented, also because it is necessary to keep a watchful eye so that certain situations do not repeat themselves. Democracy must represent a constant and not occasional exercise, and April 25th serves to remind us that the rights we have today are not to be taken for granted.” The celebration of the Liberation Day, organized by the CGIL Pescara in collaboration with Anpi, began yesterday morning immediately after the commemoration of the partisans shot in Colle Pineta which was followed by the opening of the stands and the picnic in the former Cocco Barracks park , and then continued in the afternoon with a 5-a-side football tournament organized by Arci and with a debate on differentiated autonomy and the premiership.
Many families were involved. «It is an important day for our historical memory», they declare John And Valeria, «and it is above all important that the new generations grow up with anti-fascist values like those promoted here today. Freedom and equality are values that we try to teach our children every day, because we believe that these principles must be renewed daily, every day. It is not only a pleasure to be here, but it is a duty.” Remember Enza: «The direct witnesses of fascism are disappearing as the years pass, which is why it is important to treasure what happened. As a teacher I can say that the school is very committed to raising awareness among the new generations but it is necessary for all institutions to participate in this process.” This is not just a civic duty, but, as he states Francis, «also of a political duty because fascism, even if in different forms, exists and is advancing. We are here to support values that contrast with today’s right which is increasingly less inclusive.”
A right that, according to Blessed The pen, by Arci, demonstrates how «along with the historical period, the methods of oppression used have also changed. April 25th is our celebration and it is essential to remember what it was to better understand what we experience every day. I am happy with the participation of young people today, also because I am often in schools and I notice that boys and girls cannot find a place to exercise their desire to engage in politics. In this way we try to involve them more.”
The day of celebration ended with free concerts by Miriam Ricordi and, in the evening, by the Modena City Ramblers who, in front of a crowded audience, promoted the 4 referendums to restore dignity to work promoted by the CGIL.
The general secretary of the CGIL Pescara is satisfied, Luca Ondifero, who decided to «organize the Liberation Day, giving it the space it really deserves. We find ourselves in a situation where our rights are being limited and today we are all here together to send a clear message, that we, as a community, are here and will be there.”
