(PRIMAPRESS) – PESARO – The work created by Maestro Poli and dedicated to maestro Luciano Pavarotti will be discovered tomorrow 27 April in Pesaro, in the year of Italian Capital of Culture, in front of the Rossini Theatre. The sculpture will be unveiled by Sinsaco, Matteo Ricci and the Councilor for Beauty, Daniele Vimini together with the tenor’s daughters Giuliana and Cristina and Nicoletta Mantovani and Pierluigi Pizzi.
“A gift to the city and, above all, a tribute to Luciano Pavarotti – explain Matteo Ricci, mayor of Pesaro and Daniele Vimini, deputy mayor, councilor for Beauty – an extraordinary artist who has never been forgotten, an honorary citizen of Pesaro who we have decided to honor with a bronze sculpture by high value.” From a height of 192cm, resting on a marble base (donated by Pacifici Travertino), the bronze work is made with the lost wax casting technique, by Albano Poli. It will be presented by Andrea Mezzetti, artistic assistant of Maestro Poli who will intervene during the event promoted by Pesaro 2024 and in which Giuliana and Cristina Pavarotti (daughters of the tenor; the mayor and the deputy mayor will be at their side during the installation of the Maestro’s star). in the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2022), Nicoletta Mantovani (wife and president of the Pavarotti Foundation with which the city has forged an intense bond), the director and set designer Pier Luigi Pizzi, protagonist of the ROF for 40 years. A Festival that owes a lot to Pavarotti. It was he who inaugurated the renovated Rossini Theater in April 1980 after 14 years of closure, an anniversary which gave further impetus to a project, that of a Rossini festival in Pesaro, which saw the light a few months later. It was he again, in 1986, who enchanted the ROF audience with a historic concert in Piazza del Popolo. And finally, in 1996, it was he who inaugurated the current Vitrifrigo Arena, in which the Rossini Opera Festival staged some of its latest greatest successes. – (PRIMAPRESS)
