Mariano Brianda and the Constituent Assembly without Campo largo.
Mariano Brianda breaks with Campo largo, despite numerous attempts by the Constituent for Sassari to find an agreement with Pd and 5Stelle in Sassari. The candidate for the municipal elections in 2019 was yes candidate for mayor of the Democratic Partyhad been defeated by the outgoing mayor Nanni Campus in the run-off.
“A decision made reluctantly” after having found an absolute refusal to any even slightest sign of change we requested – let the Constituent Assembly know in a note -. We reiterated that unity in an alliance must be built and cannot be imposed, including the name of the mayor. We offered to put aside the name of Mariano Brianda and to find together another candidate for mayor, capable of reassuring both the electorate closest to the parties and those disappointed by the parties and close to the Constituent Assembly: a new and shared name”.
“We even proposed to converge on their candidate as long as they and the coalition expressed and manifested tangible signs of distancing themselves from the old ways of doing politics of the center-left: from the division of seats to the pre-eminence of the party apparatus – adds the Constituent Assembly -. Unfortunately, we found ourselves faced with a barrage of unshakable vetoes and the certainty that no perspective will change in the coalition parties that are increasingly entrenched and divided, with the risk that this may entail: that is, giving space to the right. The Constituent Assembly for Sassari is in the field and Mariano Brianda is in the field as a candidate for mayor. Our appeal is to all the people of Sassari to stand by us and support us with their free and useful vote.”
