The regular season of the top national women’s water polo championship ends with a bang. There leader Ekipe Orizzonte receives a Nesima the Plebiscite Padua, second in the standings, for what can be considered a starter for the championship play-offs; Brizz Nuoto hosts the Cinderella Como at the Scuderi in an attempt to return to the success that has been missing for too long in the Granata house.
The big match between Ekipe and Padova on RaiSport
The match between the top two teams of this regular season is a classic one. Ekipe Orizzonte and Plebiscito Padova will be played on Saturday 27 April at 3pm at the Nesima swimming pool, live on RaiSport, demonstrating how much of a match this is, which has already been the scene of championship finals. Nonetheless, the Venetians are fresh winners of the Len Euro Cup having beaten Trieste in the final just under two weeks ago.
The Catania team have already secured first place in the standings in view of the play-offs, thanks to the six-point advantage over second place occupied by the Venetian team, but they will certainly do everything they can to offer a good performance and continue the path undertaken in recent weeks with the aim of reconfirming themselves on the top of Italy after disappointments in the Champions League and, more recently, in the Italian Cup.
For their part, the guests do not want to give up also because behind them, three points behind, are Sis Roma. However, in the event of finishing on equal points in second place, the Paduas would remain due to a better goal difference in head-to-head matches.
Palmieri, “It will be very important to do well”
A challenge therefore which still has a significant specific weight, as the number 7 of Ekipe Orizzonte explains on the eve of the meeting: “Tomorrow’s result – underlines Valeria Palmieri – It will be irrelevant for the rankings, but for us it is very important to do well. This year the Padova team has become younger, but despite this it has maintained its spirit and quality of play. Precisely regarding the game, we need to focus on our own, but also on the mistakes we have made in several matches and on the intensity. Also because, in view of the semi-finals, the attitude will be very important, since from now on every match will be a final”.

Brizz Nuoto wants to close with a smile a return round lacking in satisfaction and with Como they are looking for that victory that is missing from the first leg match against the Lombard team. It won’t be easy though because the guests need to win to avoid direct relegation to Serie A2.
The Acesi will receive the Lariane at the Scuderi swimming pool in Catania on Saturday 27 April at 3pm with live streaming on SportWebSicilia. The seven coached by Carlo Zilleri is already certain of competing in the play outs. Winning, however, would give morale to the team which, after an excellent and encouraging first round which allowed them to qualify for the Final Six of the Italian Cup for the first time, was no longer able to find the three points.
