Benevento: Technical table on the water problem, constructive discussion at Palazzo Mosti, mayor Clemente Mastella present

Benevento, 26 April 2024 – Chaired by the mayor Clemente Mastella, a technical table was held this morning at Palazzo Mosti on the water problems recorded in the city of Benevento and linked to the high-speed works.
Taking part in the meeting were Domenico Semplice (Italian railway network), Giuseppe Castaldo (Campania Region – Integrated water cycle), Giovanni Marcello (general director of the Campania water authority), Pompilio Forgione (president of the Samnite district of the water authority), Domenico Russo ( president Gesesa) and the mayor of Ponte Antonello Caporaso, of Melizzano Rossano Insogna and of San Lorenzo Maggiore Carlo Giuseppe Iannotti.
At the end of a calm and constructive discussion, the Italian railway network apologized for the inconvenience caused by an accident on the afternoon of Saturday 20th April. The episodic and unpredictable nature of the event did not allow for preliminary and coordinated information. However, RFI has guaranteed that it will limit the possibility of such events recurring as much as possible, also through joint inspections and forms of preliminary sharing with bodies and municipalities, in the case of interventions near water pipes. The timeliness of the repair intervention made it possible to mitigate the inconvenience suffered by citizens and businesses affected by the water interruption.
It was a positive meeting – concluded Mayor Mastella – in which RFI apologized for the accidental event of 20 April and guaranteed that it will implement greater technical-design precautions to minimize the probability of similar episodes recurring. We have also agreed on more stringent forms of communication and technical coordination. The works for the High Speed have an objective strategic importance but it is advisable that they be carried out with extreme care and consideration so that they do not cause inconvenience to citizens and economic activities”.
