Is it possible to trace the origins of one’s family? On the occasion of “How many stories in History. Week of teaching and heritage education in archives” organized by the Emilia-Romagna Region, on Tuesday 7 May, at 10:00 am, and Thursday 9 May, at 2:30 pm, the State Archives of Forlì -Cesena, Cesena section (via Montalti, 4), will host a series of meetings dedicated to genealogical research. With Valeria Beltrame and Roberto Raggi, we will talk, in particular, about how to trace the origins of your family and the methodology of genealogical research. The days are aimed at cultural associations, groups, individual citizens, especially young people. For associations, schools and large groups it is possible to arrange dedicated meetings even outside the established week.

For information and reservations you can contact the number 0547-610754 or the email address [email protected]. How Many Stories in History represents an opportunity to enhance one’s archival heritage, both through the dissemination of the teaching activity carried out and through targeted training and promotional initiatives: the objective is to increase awareness of the importance of the archive as a cultural asset and collective historical memory. The proposed activities are aimed at an adult audience (cultural associations, interest groups, individual citizens) and, above all, at young people, who in many cases become the protagonists. The “Week” alternates between guided tours and thematic itineraries, conferences and documentary exhibitions, meetings with teachers, urban trekking and excursions in the area, presentations of the works created by the students which illustrate the results of complex laboratories, in which papers and documents are used to deepen the theoretical study of history by acquiring a specific research method.

The Cultural Heritage Sector of the Emilia-Romagna Region promotes the event in collaboration with ANAI. Italian National Archival Association – Emilia Romagna Section and Archival and Bibliographic Superintendency of Emilia Romagna and takes care of the drafting of the program and promotional material (since 2010 the graphics have been created by the Regional Press Centre). It also organises, directly or in collaboration with other promoting bodies, seminars, conferences and other in-depth initiatives aimed in particular at archivists and teachers. With them we intend to offer tools for the construction of the teaching offer, ideas for methodological reflection and examples of use of documentary sources.
