The lack of response to the inspection activity – regarding written questions presented by the Ragusa city councilor, Gaetano Mauro – leads the Presidency of the Region to activate the local Autonomy Department to find out the real reasons for this non-compliance.
It was Generazione’s municipal councilor himself, in recent days, who reported to the relevant bodies what he defined as “a habit of Mayor Cassì which actually hinders inspection activity”.
“It is really serious – the opposition councilor had written – for a man from the institutions to violate the principle of transparency in the context of municipal governance and not to verify, as required by law and municipal regulations, punctually and correctly the inspection activity carried out in place by a municipal councilor”.
Now a note signed by the chief of staff of the President of the Region, Renato Schifani (Prot. 8539 of 23 April 2024), asks the offices to clarify so that the correctness and effectiveness of the actions can be assessed with full knowledge of the facts of the municipal administration led by Peppe Cassì, appropriately considering the role of democratic guarantee and the publicistic function exercised by him.
“We hope that the mayor will clarify things, both for the offices in charge and for the citizens of Ragusa – added Mauro – and explain the reasons for these silenced attitudes which hinder the activity of the city councillors. There will be no darkness over this or other questions raised.”
