“Encounter with dance – my long journey” in Barletta Anna Maria Prina

The event organized by the ”Barletta in Rosa APS” Study Center

Anna Maria Prina, graduated from the Teatro alla Scala Ballet School, specialized for two years at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow and at the Marinsky Theater in St. Petersburg. In 1960 she joined the corps de ballet of the Teatro alla Scala, of which she later became a soloist. A ten-year and highly successful career. A dance school, that of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, of which she was director: a partnership that lasted 32 years, during which numerous male and female dancers who work today in Italy and abroad were born and raised, one among all , Roberto Bolle. Over the course of her more than thirty years of direction, it was thanks to her and her teaching method that the Scaliger School acquired new prestige on the international dance and ballet scene. She is an absolute personality of Italian dance and an excellent pedagogue, she will be present in Barletta, Saturday 27 April 2024 at 6.00 pm, in the Sala Rossa of the Castle.
The event, which is part of the information and training activities planned for World Dance Day 2024, is organized by the associations: Arte&BallettO; “Barletta in Rosa APS” Study Center and the ApuliaDanzaFestival team. It will be an opportunity to introduce to the entire citizenry a charismatic woman, with great sensitivity and impeccable vision but also to converse and discuss Anna Maria Prina’s book published in 2023 “Encounter with dance – My long journey”, an autobiography written in collaboration with Francesco Borelli.
In these pages, she tells her story in first person, dragging the reader along with her to the dance lessons at the Scala school and to the shows that began her career as a dancer, culminating in her appointment as director of the Teatro alla Scala dance school. From that moment on, her mission will be to train young talents and étoiles of the future. An exciting journey into the memory of a woman who dedicated her entire life to dance, in the company of great figures such as Carla Fracci, Rudolf Nureyev, Margot Fonteyn, Paolo Grassi, Giorgio Strehler, Roberto Bolle. The President of the Barletta in Rosa Study Center” Prof. Mariagrazia Vitobello will interview her.
The history, grace and immense love for dance, and not only, of the historic Director of the Ballet School of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan… not to be missed. This will be followed at 8.15pm in Corso Vittorio Emanuele by the flash-mob “A community in dance” coordinated by the ApuliaDanzaFestival.
An evening of great charm, of great cultural and communicative depth.
