The weekend will feature a slate of promotions. On Friday, the team will hold its inaugural Taylor Swift Day followed by Saturday’s Alumni Day. The series will conclude with Military Appreciation Day.
ORANGE UPDATE:
- Syracuse swept Le Moyne April 24, 8-6 and 6-1. The Orange beat the Dolphins in all three games this season.
- Syracuse clubbed three solo home runs in the first game off the bats of seniors Angel Jasso and Olivia Pess and graduate students Rebecca Clyde.
- Pess became the 12th Syracuse player to hit a home run this year, tying last season’s mark.
- With two multi-hit games Wednesday, Jasso passed Alexis Switenko (2006) for the most multi-hit performances in a single season with 21. Jasso’s 53 career multi-hit games is tied with Switenko for fourth in program history.
- Jasso also tied current assistant coach Sydney O’Hara for eighth all-time with 183 career hits.
- Jasso’s three RBI across the two games allowed her to crack the top-10 in career runs drive in. The senior has 95 RBI.
- Jasso’s two stolen bases ties her with Sammy Fernandez for fifth in program history with 52 swiped bags.
- Jasso has recorded multiple hits in five consecutive contests, the third time this season the senior has multiple hits across five games.
- During the current stretch, Jasso is batting .722 (13-for-18) with six runs scored, six RBI and three stolen bases.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
- Virginia Tech has a 37-9-1 overall record and 17-4 in ACC play. The Hokies are fourth in the country with a .356 batting average, second with 2.26 home runs per game and third with a .671 slugging percentage.
- Virginia Tech has outscored opponents 389 to 144.
- The Hokies have six players with double-digit home runs, paced by Michelle Chatfield (19) and Cori McMillan (18). McMillan also swiped 18 stolen bases.
- Emma Lemley paces the pitching staff with a 2.62 ERA in 101.2 innings with 138 strikeouts. As a staff, the Hokies have fanned 341 batters across 294 innings.
SERIES HISTORY:
Syracuse holds a 14-12 record against Virginia Tech all time and are 9-5 at home. The Orange last played the Hokies in 2021 and have lost five straight games following a five-game winning streak against Virginia Tech.
