In fact, as soon as the Apulian club read the reasons for the sentence with which the Federal Court of Appeal of the FIGC had sanctioned the club, it challenged the provision by submitting an appeal to the Coni Guarantee Board.
“The Board – writes Gazzetta del Sud – has four hearings on the agenda in the month of May: the first on the 6th, the second on the 9th, the last two on the 15th and 16th. Hearings already packed with old appeals, some dating back to last year, but which could also be used to discuss the appeal of the Apulian company”.
Taranto is defended by the lawyer Chiacchio who, writes the Gazzetta, “will at least try to halve the current penalty which could change the ranking between second and fourth place currently occupied by Avellino, Benevento, Casertana and Taranto. The start of the playoffs is set for May 4th but it could take no less than 15 days to resolve the issue. Days that will have a tremendous impact on the playoffs.”
