Mister Pasquale Cerrato’s Salernitana under 15 team ends their championship with a victory. At the Volpe field in Salerno the Granatini passed by a narrow margin, with a 1-0 obtained already in the first half against a Palermo with many absences among the starters and about to play the Scudetto play-offs. The tournament ends in eleventh place with 20 points.

Salernitana starts off aggressive straight away, there is a great desire to finish the season with a victory. The first opportunity, however, is for Palermo; Ingrassia from the right puts a ball in the middle, the ball ends up high. Shortly afterwards, during the 8th minute, Tufo tries from distance, again with a high ball. In the first minutes of the match the teams seem to play it openly, with several chances on both sides, but in the long run Salernitana intensifies its pressing and begins to become increasingly dangerous. It’s no coincidence that the opening goal came in the 18th minute with a great technical gesture from Sepe; the grenade player runs down the right wing and, having reached the edge of the area, lets loose a soft lob that ends up in Schiera’s top left corner. Palermo tries to react; 24th minute, launch for Ingrassia who in the penalty area, alone against two Granata defenders, tries the shot into the top corner to the left of Marino, finding an excellent response from the Salernitana goalkeeper. The biggest opportunity for Palermo comes in the 37th minute after Marino’s imprecise exit, Palumbo from a favorable position puts the ball wide open. The first half therefore ends with Salernitana leading 1-0. In the second half the pace slowed down and the challenge only revived in the final ten minutes with unrealistic attempts on both sides.

The important thing is not the ranking but the growth, the objective is to bring as many kids as possible to the under 16s. In the end the journey was also satisfactory.”
