“April 25th is everyone’s holiday and it is an important day to remember the founding values ​​of our Constitution, daughter of the Resistance: freedom and democracy conquered by men and women who fought and defeated Nazi-fascism”. Mayor Gian Luca Zattini applauds the large participation of the people of Forlì in the anniversary which yesterday, in Piazza Saffi, celebrated the liberation from the oppression of the dictatorship. underlining “the pride of being Italian – he continues – to make the ideals of independence and freedom known to the new generations, on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of national liberation. An important story for the whole community and a moment to pay homage to the people who built republican Italy and who will always have a special place in our hearts.” The day began with the institutional ceremony of homage to the partisan martyrs Silvio Corbari, Adriano Casadei, Arturo Spazzoli and Iris Versari, in the presence of the mayor and the military, civil and religious authorities, with the laying of a wreath at the lamppost in where they were hung, after being tortured and killed by the Nazi-fascists. Also remembered was Tonino Spazzoli who was forced to witness the macabre vision of the tortured bodies, only to be killed near Coccolia (Ravenna). Also present were the prefect of Forlì Rinaldo Argentieri and the bishop Livio Corazza, as well as the Honorable Rosaria Tassinari and other representatives of the municipal administration. Honors paid by a picket of the 66th Trieste Airmobile Infantry Regiment and by the combat and arms associations, with banners and medals, with the Forlì band, directed by maestro Roberta Fabbri, who played the rest in memory of the freedom fighters . The procession then moved to the memorial to the fallen, with the band playing ‘Bella Ciao’ reaching the stage under the Town Hall, where the national anthem was performed.

Once the institutional ceremony was over, the one linked to the ’25 April 2024-79th Anniversary of the Liberation’ competition for the students of the Forlì schools followed, in which the first classified in the ‘posters’ section were awarded. The winner was Karen Rossi from the ‘Canova’ art high school, with Letizia Arpinati and Federica Turci from Zangheri in second place ex-equo. Over 1,000 students from Forlì schools participated, producing texts, photographs, videos and songs on the theme. In the afternoon, the popular festival took place in the urban park with a concert by the Città di Forlì band.
