ROBILANTE – Lisa Blangero from Robilante to the national final of the Mathematical Games
The young student qualified together with the best Italian students, who will compete in Milan on May 25th. For the winners there is the final in Paris
Last March 16, in the semi-finals held in Fossano, the young student of the 2nd A of the Secondary School of Robilante qualified for Cat.C1 at the national final of the International Mathematical Games Championships organized by the Pristem Center of the University Bocconi in Milan. An extraordinary result, which arrived after a tough selection process held online, where Blangero once again demonstrated his great determination and mathematical competence.
The appointment for the final, which will be held in Milan, is set for May 25th: Lisa, together with the best students in Italy, will try to overcome the difficult test and qualify for the international final in Paris on August 25th and 26th. Every year, tens of thousands of students participate in this competition accredited by the Ministry of Education and Merit.
“For the students of the IC Secondary School in Robilante, the Mathematical Games have now become a highly anticipated event. For several years, numerous children have participated in the Autumn Mathematical Games, under the supervision of the institute’s mathematics teachers and always organized and promoted by the Bocconi Pristem Centre. This is an internal competition between the various participating schools. There are also many kids who independently decide to sign up for the international Mathematical Games championship which includes various stages. After passing the quarter-finals, this year too many put themselves to the test in a competition which saw over 400 kids divided by age into various categories compete in the semi-final in Fossano.”says professor Filomena Palermo.
Four of the IC of Robilante participated in the regional phases of Fossano: Vittoria Catelli and Leon Pepino of the Secondary School of Roccavione, Leonardo Lenti and Lisa Blangero of Robilante.
“The whole school, Lisa’s classmates and teachers are happy with the result achieved and are ready to support her in the next competition which, like the others she has already deservedly passed, is not based on notional knowledge but, as the slogan of the International Championships states, on “Logic, intuition and imagination”reiterates the manager Renata Varrone.
