ANCONA Custodians of centuries-old traditions, of unparalleled artistic and architectural jewels. Pieces of history that come to life in everyday life. The villages of the Marche seem to have come out of a fairy tale book. But the phenomenon of depopulation and the devastation of the 2016 earthquake, of which the south of the region still bears the marks, have put its vitality to the test. For this reason, an extraordinary liquidity injection was necessary, aimed at safeguarding a cultural and landscape heritage that cannot be dispersed and which represents one of the main driving forces of our tourism.

The treasure

The integrated regional program of interventions for the redevelopment and valorisation of villages launched by the Region provides for the allocation of 7 million euros over the three-year period, to be included in a broader relaunch strategy of 126 million euros, financed with resources from the Pnrr and the funds Europeans. An investment aimed at reviving the villages, also taking into consideration the fact that 70% of the municipalities in the Marche have a population of less than 5,000 inhabitants and that 302 centers are included in the list of historic villages. Among the interventions approved with the integrated regional program, the measure dedicated to municipalities through the public notice “Welcoming village” is central. The event includes the proposal of a project aimed at interventions in infrastructure, redevelopment of public real estate, urban decoration and tourism promotion.

Digitalisation

Both regional funds amounting to 9.5 million euros and resources relating to the rotation fund amounting to 14,717,012 euros contribute to the financing of the measure. But although they are the custodians par excellence of the combination of history & tradition, our villages must also cross the threshold of the third millennium. To this end, Palazzo Raffaello has launched the Borgo Digitale Diffuso call to “support the digitalisation of the Marche Municipalities”. The initiative, with an endowment of 8.5 million of ERDF 2021/2027 funds, saw the participation of as many as 190 local authorities, demonstrating the great interest in the digital transformation of the territory. The beneficiary municipalities will receive 45 thousand euros to follow up on the project proposals presented over the two-year period 2024/2025. The admitted projects concern interventions in the ICT field, aimed at the promotion and economic valorisation of territories, the construction of intelligent cities and the simplification of relationships with citizens through digital technology. Walking through history, yes, but with all the benefits of contemporaneity.
