Symeoni festival, today and tomorrow. Inauguration of the great work ‘Permette? Sandro Symeoni’. The third edition of the Symeoni Festival is in the starting blocks, an event organized by the Sandro Simeoni Archive with Ferrara La Città del Cinema. This year the appointment is for today and tomorrow in Migliarino (Municipality of Fiscaglia). The festival, conceived and directed by Luca Siano (founder of the Sandro Simeoni archive and expert in cinema poster design), this year is enriched with a special moment. In addition to celebrating Simeoni, a cinema painter originally from Migliarino, a work dedicated to Marcello Mastroianni will also be inaugurated. This year marks one hundred years since the actor’s birth. Siano has created a large permanent work entitled: “Permette? Sandro Symeoni”. The colorful graphics, which extend over a surface area of ​​fifty square metres, recall the title of Ettore Scola’s film, “Permette? Rocco Papaleo”, played by Mastroianni and for whom Simeoni himself created the poster.

“It is a public artistic installation. Mastroianni’s outstretched hand – explains Siano – represents a sort of welcome”. The author, starting from a sketch drawn by Symeoni for the film, digitally redesigned the work. Today, at 3pm, “Screen printing as a printing method” will be held, a masterclass with Luca Siano and Split Image. Then “Artisanal screen printing: make your first screen printing with us”. The Split Image team will explain the various steps of this printing technique. Tomorrow at 11 am the presentation of the work “Permette? Sandro Symeoni” edited by Luca Siano. It will be inaugurated by the mayor of Fiscaglia. The enormous ‘ventilated façade’ made of kerlyte, measuring over 50 m2, in via Roma. At 3pm there will be “Cinematic Lettering: the design of letters in film titles”, a masterclass with Luca Siano and Andrea Carrer. Followed by “Cinematic lettering: the design of letters in film titles”, a workshop with Andrea Carrer.
