The race
Some of the magistrates who applied have already worked or work at the Prosecutor’s Office of the Pontine capital. Among these Luigia Spinelli, for many years deputy prosecutor in via Ezio, an expert in the field of environmental crimes, so much so that she was for some years a consultant to the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the waste cycle. Currently working for the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Rome, Spinelli has conducted the main investigations into organized criminal groups present in the Pontine area such as “Reset”, “Puro Sangue Ciarelli”, “Dirty Glass” and “Don’t Touch”: the latter in particular, it defeated a syndicate dedicated to intimidation and extortion, an operation which left an important signal for legality and which opened the way to new investigations into those groups which were recognized in the sentences as being criminal associations. crimes with mafia characteristics.
Also in the running is Giuseppe Miliano, a “historic” magistrate of the Latina Prosecutor’s Office who over the years has dealt not only with organized crime, but also with urban planning crimes, environmental violations, waste disposal and offenses against the public administration . Among the investigations bearing his signature are “Olimpia”, the one still ongoing on the Q3 commercial complex and the one, conducted with his colleague Andrea D’Angeli, on the Karibu coop and the Aid Consortium which involved the MP’s family members Aboubakar Soumahoro.
Eugenio Albamonte, deputy public prosecutor at the Court of Rome, former president of the National Association of Magistrates, specialized in investigations into computer crimes and cyberterrorism, also applied for the position of deputy in via Ezio.
Also on the list of aspiring candidates is the deputy prosecutor of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Rome Giovanni Musarò, known not only for his commitment to the fight against the mafia for having reopened and supported the prosecution in the trial of the murder of Stefano Cucchi. The last name in the running, at least so far, is that of Mario Palazzi, magistrate at the Rome Prosecutor’s Office, assigned to the DDA, and representative of the prosecution in the Consip trial which is heading towards the final stages.
The choice of the deputy from via Ezio should take place within a few months while it will certainly take longer to replace Andrea D’Angeli and Daria Monsurrò who will leave Latina for a new position, both in Rome, starting from June. In fact, their positions have not yet been advertised.
