Cento, a project for children and teenagers La Nuova Ferrara

Hundred 1 Caffè Onlus is the first digital social reality created to support small-medium Italian non-profit associations through the diffusion of the culture of the gesture of giving. Since 2011, every year through its crowdfunding platform it has helped 52 solidarity bodies, which promote assistance projects for various social causes. It is thus possible to support all the projects of the year with a one-off donation of 52 euros. «It’s like donating a symbolic coffee every week… in one go», they explain.

The testimonial of 1 Caffé Onlus is the popular actor Luca Argentero. Well, this week the new project to be supported is called Strade and is in Cento. With the donation it will be possible to help creative workshops for the inclusion of children and adolescents aged 6-14 years, identified as particularly fragile and residing in the Ceres neighbourhood, a peripheral area with an incidence of factors linked to social and educational poverty. These are inclusive and local socio-educational activities, both permanent and itinerant, which will come to life at the Strade socio-educational centre, a point of reference for the community providing free educational services. In particular, equipment and teaching materials will be purchased for socio-educational animation activities, reading, social circus and cooperative games which have the aim of conveying educational and inclusion messages.

The objective – as explained in the project on the non-profit organization’s website – is to create concrete responses to fragility in the area, offering quality experiential and training opportunities that are sustainable over time, thus contributing to the construction of a supportive and educational community that knows how to grasp social challenges and address old and new forms of poverty, putting the person and their development towards independent living at the centre.

“Flowers can grow from concrete: there are many children and adolescents in the neighborhood who dream, slender stems on the margins that Strade accompanies every day in their process of growth, inclusion, education, expressiveness and orientation to life”.

The context The Ceres district of Cento, built in the 1970s, is spread over two parallel wings of tall concrete buildings. Over the years it has welcomed local families, emigrants from Southern Italy and from foreign countries. Commercial businesses, many in disuse, are faded signs of a suspended time. It is here that Strade Aps dreams of creating a neighborhood socio-educational aggregation space. Strade has renovated a disused building in the heart of the neighborhood, transforming it into an educational space, an open, inclusive place for listening and socio-educational activities for children, adolescents, young people and communities. «Strade – they explain from APS itself – lives the neighborhood every day together with those who animate it, those who suffer it, those who still believe in it. It gathers new needs by trying to bring immediate help and concrete material support to the most vulnerable. Together with children and young people, it animates the common green areas by opening them to the outside city. He speaks the languages of those who are often on the margins while respecting cultures and religions. From here the creative caravans of Strade leave to bring rights to other suburbs and rural areas of Italy and Europe. Over the course of 12 months, the project will have the opportunity to implement creative workshops for the inclusion of children and adolescents. These are non-formal, inclusive, local, permanent and itinerant socio-educational activities that will come to life in our socio-educational centre, a point of reference for the community”.
