Condolences for the passing of Mirella Cerini: “She served Castellanza with passion”

Condolences unanimous for the passing of Mirella Cerini, mayor of Castellanza who passed away on Thursday 25 April due to an illness suffered after the celebrations for the 79th anniversary of the Liberation.

The mayor and the council of Legnano

«Mirella truly died as mayor, still wearing the tricolor sash after the ceremony for April 25th – these are the words of the mayor -; a moment that, as mayor, I also experienced with participation this morning. I will carry the memory of her with me a mayor who has always demonstrated a strong determination to achieve the objectives for her city. In recent years I have had the opportunity to get to know it and collaborate on important issues: first Accam, then the Altomilanese Park, then, very recently, Amga and Sieco. His passing reminds us, once again, that our life truly hangs by a very thin thread. The administration’s and our entire city’s deepest condolences go to his family and the entire Castellanza community.”

The Bcc of Busto Garolfo and Buguggiate

Emotion also from Bcc of Busto Garolfo and Buguggiate. «We knew each other well before he became mayor of Castellanza and in that role we have organized numerous initiatives togetherbetween the Municipality of Castellanza and the Bcc of Busto Garolfo and Buguggiate – the thoughts of the president Roberto Scazzosi -. Solar, available for comparison in the common search for opportunities for growth for the Castellanza community, Mirella Cerini has often been a guest at our events and on Sunday we had agreed to greet her at the opening of our meeting to approve the budget. I am deeply affected and truly saddened by his sudden passing and on behalf of the Cooperative Credit Bank of Busto Garolfo and Buguggiate and our members, I offer my deepest condolences to his family.”

The LIUC – Cattaneo University

LIUC – Cattaneo University was astonished, Cerini also sat on the board of directors. «The sudden passing of Mirella Cerini leaves us incredulous and sad – is the message of condolence from President Riccardo Comerio -. Passionate about life and in love with her city, she was an attentive, competent and helpful mayor, interpreting his role with a spirit of service and commitment to the common good. Member of the LIUC Board of Directors, he collaborated willingly on University projects, understanding its driving role for the city of Castellanza. The warmth of his crystalline laughter will remain in anyone who believes that even an institutional role can be experienced with a sense of humanity and empathy. As president of LIUC I express my condolences and closeness to his family, also on behalf of the Board of Directors and all the staff.”

The city councilors of Legnano Carolina and Francesco Toia

Condolences from Carolina and Francesco Toia, minority councilors in Legnano. «We are shocked and deeply sorry. Mirella was a special person. Sunny, good, honest, always available, attentive, stubborn and sincerely in love with her Castellanza. We will all miss her. Hello Mirella, may the earth be light on you.”

The United Center Right for Castellanza

Words of condolence also from the United Right Center for Castellanza «Today the whole city mourns a woman who, even if on positions different from ours and making choices that we did not share, he certainly served Castellanza with passion and interpreted his role with dedication. This is the moment in which the Castellanza community must stop and pay homage to Mirella Cerini by joining her family and comforting her. Have a good trip Mirella.”

The USD Castellanzese

USD Castellanzese is also in mourning, and extends its deepest condolences to the mayor’s family, who was a member of the “Sogno NeroVerde” fan club, moving close to his loved ones and uniting in the pain and despair of these hours: the company he will ask the Federation to observe a minute’s silence and to play with mourning on his arm the match with Clivense.

“I had a good personal relationship with Mirella, of sympathy, esteem and friendship which had consolidated over the years thanks to the results that Castellanzese achieved under his administration; Mirella began her political career in 2016 and in that year we won the Promotion championship – in memory of president Alberto Affetti -. He also witnessed the victory of the Eccellenza championship, the passage to Serie D and the playoffs for access to Serie C. She followed Castellanzese a lot, so much so that just last Sunday against Piacenza she was sitting next to me and to the deputy mayor Cristina Borroni to watch the match. It’s hard to think now that there will no longer be why it was a point of reference for Castellanza. I have always appreciated his commitment. She gave us support, she followed us, she considered us and I will remember this forever, it’s sad not to have her by our side anymore, because he was our number one fan. When such an important figure is missing, a different process begins because we begin to think about helping the current administration to govern and therefore I expect everyone to use common sense and above all to set aside conflicting elements. It would be nice if we could all make a commitment to help this administration govern the city. It’s a huge loss from every point of view».

Massimo Ciapparella

Dear Mr Mayor,
this morning we said goodbye at the end of the procession and you told me “Thank you, it was nice to end like this. So I’ll see you next year too.”
Even if I didn’t know you well I have always been struck by your smile, one of the spontaneous ones, one of the sincere ones despite the thousand thoughts that driving a city like Castellanza can bring.
But of course… it’s not done like that!
I will collect your invitation and arrive ready for next April 25th. Thank you
Massimo Ciapparella
