It often happens that we see a Beijing Express a more competitive couple than the others, even if there are different ways of dealing with the competition. That of Pastry chefs Massimiliano and Damiano Carrara seems focused on the desire to excel at all costs, carrying out a series of strategies aimed (rightly) at taking advantage of finishing first in the race. The eighth stage of the journey, however, did not go as smoothly as the others, leading the two brothers to manage several moments of nervousness and setbacks. It all started when the couple lost the map that had been given to her by Costantino Della Gherardesca and from Fru with the information to be able to continue the journey: leaving aside the malice of the operators Beijing Express who zoomed in on the map that fell from the Pastry Chef’s backpack without helping them – they could have done it behind the scenes and no one would have noticedeven if this would have compromised the tension that then spiced up what would happen next -, the couple was clouded by the more electric tension, to the point of having to wait for the other couples to reach them in order to photograph the map with the phone that the production of Beijing Express had given to every traveler for the first test.

They were the first to reach them her friends Maddalena Corvaglia and Barbara Petrillo who, at the request of the Pastry Chefs, proved to be very collaborative: it’s just a shame that, a few moments later, Damiano tried to snatch the passage at two because it was certain that the driver would not wait for the Friends to finish the test. The gesture, needless to say, was not liked because, putting aside the fact of the wait, it would still have been elegant not to take advantage of that kindness – we always have the doubt that, if the roles were reversed, the Pastry Chefs would not have allowed others to take photographs of their map, but who knows -. Beyond this, the Pastry Chefs managed to get to the red book first even though, once there, they were bounced by Constantine because, by using the telephone that the production had put in their hands for purposes other than those of the test, they in fact violated the regulation of Beijing Express. The reaction wasn’t the best, considering that both Damiano and Massimiliano thought that going from first to last position due to what happened was an exaggeration. Things, however, have not improved going forward, considering that Damiano refused to ingest the very spicy dish typical of Sri Lanka unlike Massimiliano, and that, when it was necessary to memorize names in the native language to pronounce in front of a native, Damiano was not too collaborative with his brother who had simply asked to see those words written on a piece of paper to remember them better.

Despite one setback after another, the Pastry Chefs were nevertheless the winners of the eighth stage of Beijing Express, qualifying for the semi-final. At that point the two unfortunately decided to send him home Fratm Artem and Antonio Oreficeone of the most surprising couples of this edition because, beyond the desire to win, the two actors of Sea Outside they have proven to take Beijing Express for what it is: a wonderful journey that manages to touch very different humanity and souls. Thanks to empathy and smiles, Fratm in the Sky Original adventure game produced by Banijay Italia grew up and got to know each other better, leaving the competition not only with a smile but also with a warm hug to the pastry chefs who admitted to having eliminated them to break the alliance they had established with the Friends. The attitude of Fratm, in this sense, is also very similar to that of Italy-Argentina Antonella Fiordelisi and Estafania Bernal who, despite the numerous penalties and the many difficulties associated with the passages, never gave up and always showed that they were having a lot of fun. Antonella, Estafania, Artem and Antonio demonstrated surprising maturity which we hope can serve as a lesson to pastry chefs. Because it’s okay to get caught up in the race and feel bad when things don’t go your way, but we must also remember that more than the destination, it’s the journey and what it contains that remains imprinted in the mind and heart of those who undertake it.
