This year too, from Rome to Treviso, April 25th stood out for the clashes political and ideological that have little or nothing to do with the Liberation Day.

The Italian capital woke up with the police who, while paper bombs were thrown, tried to keep the demonstrators of the pro-Palestinian collectives and the Jewish Brigade. The marches of the two factions, which were held near the Pyramid of Cestius, took place amid mutual insults and threats with the result that, in the end, the agents had to disband the Jewish Brigade’s march to prevent the situation from degenerating further. In Bologna, however, the electoral posters of Giorgia Meloni posted for the European elections of next 8 and 9 June. “During a procession for April 25th held in Bologna, the usual suspects set fire to some photos of President Giorgia Meloni, trying to further heighten the climate of opposition that they have been spreading for some time“, denounced the deputy minister of infrastructure and transport Galeazzo Bignami. Things went better in Treviso where the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio he was only booed by those present as he tried to explain that the ministers, having sworn by the Constitution, are obviously anti-fascists. Even in Genoa there was no shortage of whistles and chants for the mayor Marco Bucci and the president of the Region Giovanni Toti, both during the final speeches in Piazza Matteotti and in the moment in which the wreath of flowers was laid for those fallen for the Resistance, under the Monumental bridge.

The situation is decidedly more dramatic Milan where there were violent clashes at the end of the procession when the Jewish Brigade was attacked as it entered Piazza del Duomo by a group of pro-Palestinian foreign boys who had not even participated in the event. Between a pro-Palestine slogan and the cry “murderers”, five young immigrants tried to break through the cordon manned by volunteers from City Angels who were in turn attacked with kicks, punches and throwing glass glasses. During the clashes, a member of the Jewish Brigade appears to have been stabbed.

“Boosting of the national anthem, insults and deep hatred from Hamas and pro-Palestinian supporters towards the Jewish Brigade and a member of the latter stabbed. This afternoon, in Piazza Duomo, everything happened contrary to what the mayor announced in recent days”, commented the FdI deputy and former deputy mayor of Milan Riccardo De Corato who added: “From the participants in today’s march, from Sala to the numerous parliamentarians and senators of the Left up to the secretary of the Democratic Party Schlein, no conviction”.

And, this year too, the celebration of April 25th ends amidst clashes and controversies.
