OLBIA. # It was an intense day entirely dedicated to the world of fencing that took place in the gym of the Ettore Pais middle school for the Gallura Trophy. # The second edition of the event, organized by Porto Rotondo sports club with the patronage of the municipality of Olbia, it attracted over #60 participants from fencing clubs throughout Sardinia who competed in foil and épée, and in the open category.
“Organizing this event is a bit of a gamble – he declared Giuseppe Ortu, responsible for the fencing section of the Porto Rotondo sports club -. # Our project involves the inclusion of young people in the world of sport which becomes an educational element. # Fencing is a complete and highly educational sport for the development of multilateralism, from balance to orientation in space. # It increases intellectual abilities and can also be helpful for students. # It is open to anyone aged six and up. # Anyone can practice it even if they don’t have an important sporting history.”
Two representatives from Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia also participated in the Gallura Trophy. # “The event is an important opportunity to compete with #athletes from the rest of Sardinia and Italy – like this Gianfranco Masia, owner of the Sassari Fencing Club -. # We need to relaunch fencing in Olbia and our club absolutely couldn’t miss it.” Below are the results ⬇️
