Putting the city back at the center it was the objective that a group of women and men – in recent months – tried to bring to the attention of political and social forces; it did so by reporting emergencies, priorities and the need to build a common vision on the future of Castellammare. Above all, it seemed necessary and urgent to affirm the need for new paths to be taken compared to those that led to the creation of coalitions based on “nothing”, or rather based only on putting together candidates capable of raking in the greatest number of votes, without however none vision or at least a program albeit minimal. The proof lies in the fact that these coalitions certainly did not prevent early dissolutions, nor that due to Camorra infiltration.
These, therefore, were the reasons that pushed people with different stories to try to construct a true reasoning about the city and its needs and certainly not to construct fake lists.
We have denounced, and we are still doing so in these hours, that precisely the persistent lack of presence of political forces has given rise, even in the last period, to the improvised birth of candidacies for mayor and coalitions which for months have engulfed the media scene and then melt and disappear. And we have all been spectators of the representation of a political transformation, even ridiculous in some of its aspects. These are demagogic operations steeped in an “empty and false newism” made up of opportunism, where statements on “politics in the last 20, 30 years” is enough to not feel involved. It also happens by those who have administered or have been in the City Council for years.
A false story, where the reason for the problems and responsibilities is never explained: for the issue of the Baths, of Savorito or the Centro Antico, of the springs as well as of the beach, not to mention Fincantieri, of the dismantled structures for social activities , of the conditions in which the hospital is reduced, or of the sports hall project, of the abandoned industrial areas or of the completion of M.di Stabia, not to mention the Puc. Without clarity on the responsibilities and the nature of the errors, wrong, “crowded” alliances are built, without it being possible to verify the composition of the lists and, therefore, resting on fragile foundations.
It is since the shame of the dissolution of the Municipality administered by the centre-right that, except on the issue of the underpass and the springs, there has been a lack of political initiative from the parties, primarily from the PD which managed to get the impossible wrong. The democratic party has not only failed to affect and change the state of things, but is also responsible for having brought about the stalemate in the democratic area itself, conspicuous by its absence both in defining the program but, even more so, in outlining the character new that the coalition should have taken on. Finally, the question of how to identify the candidate for Mayor would deserve a separate discussion; in fact, only a few days ago there was an acceleration with the club’s administration.
And yet we are convinced, as we have always said, that the city deserves unity, a common effort, clear programs and choices. For these reasons we are addressing the candidate for mayor directly, and in confirming that we will not betray the path started, the programmatic contents on which we have worked, the priorities to be addressed, we hope that he can contribute to achieving the discontinuity and non-facade renewal of which the city needs and for the challenges that await us, starting from the fight against the Camorra and every form of illegality.
The city with its neighborhoods, its young people, the energies present in the world of work, school, culture, with its economic and productive forces, seeks, indeed, a real change. We therefore hope, even in the short time remaining, that the program will become the glue of the coalition, based on a clear initiative from the candidate for mayor.
For us, we want to reiterate clearly, this is an important step. It is also for these reasons and to evaluate the developments of ongoing relations that we adjourn the meeting to Wednesday 24 April.
The city expects and deserves seriousness and commitment to change, a coalition not made up of a sum of lists and acronyms, but of ideas, perhaps even from different points of view and visions which however know how to find a strong synthesis, so as not to return the city to the center right and to help defend and relaunch our Castellammare.
However, we will remain in the field, we will do it by building around the theme “a other present” a laboratory, a place to meet again, to continue to maintain that serious dialogue that has also been experienced with different stories and paths, an open relationship with the city, the energies and experiences that animate it.
