The Barsanti and Matteucci scientific high school participated in the solemn celebration of 25 April which was held in the city council hall starting from 11am.
After the speech of the mayor, Giorgio Del Ghingarothe lectio magistralis of Gianluca Fulvettiprofessor of contemporary history at the University of Pisa, and the interventions of Luca Coccoli president Anpi Viareggio e Filippo Gattai Tacchi for the Historical Institute of Resistance and the Contemporary Age of Lucca, he spoke Silvia Barbara Gori, manager of Barsanti and Matteucci who thanked all the institutions present and in particular the mayor and the city councilor David Zappelli, the culture councilor Sandra Mei and the association Land of Viareggio.
“Thank you for this invitation – said the principal – because the involvement of young people is fundamental, precisely so that the past can continue to live through the memory of eyewitnesses who, unfortunately, will no longer be there in a few years, and will instead remain alive through the children. The fact of being able to live experiences up close enters their personal fabric even more. It is therefore not an acquisition that remains at the level of pure knowledge, but through experience, it will remain indelible. Therefore, for students the possibility of this active participation represents lifelong learning. The students present this morning are only a small representation of the classes that are working on this project which will culminate with the publication of a text: Allegra Caccia (3A) will tell the story of Fra Bargagli, murdered by the SS for having disobeyed the command to evacuate the city to treat a sick person. Elisa Radicello (3A) is preparing a research on the admiral Inigo Champions and Luna Lazzari, however, will show a sketch which she will then transform into a model to propose to the municipality the renovation of Champions Square. But there are many subjects and classes interested in the project: 4H is dealing with the history of right to resistance4G will instead talk about totalitarianismi.e. 4th Edition will deal with radar from a physics perspective.”
The Barsanti and Matteucci teachers who are following the students in this project are: Alessandro Dati, Lara Casadio, Carlo Iacomelli, Francesca Pucci and Eleonora Prayer.
