Liberation Day, mystery surrounding the execution of “Bella ciao”

There is a mystery surrounding the performance of “Bella ciao” by the Asti city band. The complaint comes from the vice president of the Anpi, Guido Cardello: «The musicians didn’t play it, we asked them why and the person in charge replied that he had received from a municipal manager thea peremptory directive not to carry it out”.

The events at the public gardens, in the midst of the celebrations of April 25th. The deputy mayor Stefania Morra intervened on the matter, Cardello continues: «She told us clearly that no such directive came from the Municipality. The fact is that in the end the vice prefect and the municipal police had to intervene to make “Bella ciao” sound”.

Cardello then recalls “the disagreements he had last year with the band, in that case relating to the execution of the Piave”.

«Bella ciao», a song symbolizing freedom, was finally played three times from Piazza Primo Maggio to Piazza San Secondo.

The maestro of the Asti band denies it Cardello’s reconstruction and believes that the piece was performed as scheduled.
