Piazza Cavour remains at the center. The issue of the construction site stopped on the crucial streets of the heart of the city of Salerno continues to take center stage and occupy the days of the municipal administration of thethe institution in Via Roma. If on the one hand the commitment of Common and the sectors in charge is to reopen the side streets of the closed area in front as soon as possible Palazzo Sant’Agostino, on the other there is the legal sector which continues – between papers, appeals and scheduled hearings – to move forward towards the objective: to return Piazza Cavour to the citizens after the halt to the works for the construction of the garages by the Parking Cavour Salerno and the consequent termination of the concession of the area with the latter. The issue ended up under the magnifying glass but above all in the courtrooms.

After the appeal to Tar – in fact – of the Pcs against the decision of the city hall to “take back” the public land where only the underground works had been carried out, the administrative court declared the act inadmissible and passed the ball to the ordinary court while giving “right” to the municipal body which will now at least be able to regain possession of the island from the Province but only to restore the road system that has been banned for years. For this reason, in all likelihood, by the end of the week the mobility sector technicians will try to understand what to do by starting to work to “clean” around the affected area and then provide the new asphalt covering. Traffic – as in the past – could be restored as early as May.

Despite uncertain times, however, from Palazzo Guerra, the administrators’ commitment to returning the area to the people of Salerno is maximum: from the mayor and theurban planning councilor Dario Loffredo, to that at mobility Rocco Galdipassing through the chief of staff Vincenzo Luciano even to the majority and opposition councillors. In this regard, just yesterday, in transparency commission led by Antonio Cammarota There was Luciano’s hearing on the case. The item on the agenda touched on the very issue that has been at the forefront in recent weeks: the legal case first, the reopening of the streets afterwards, up to the “liberation” of the city seafront from the construction site. The president of the commission together with the chief of staff is the one to chew the matter and make room in what is the complicated jurisprudence with the city councilors.

On the calendar there are several dates marked in red and they all move towards summer: in June there could be glimmers of light regarding the seafront area, on which the company has never operated. Then there could be news from a judicial and economic point of view: an injunction is pending on the institution’s coffers after PCS’s request for compensation of over 3 million euros. According to what was confirmed by the head of staff, the Municipality would have already opposed it and instead requested compensation of 4 million euros.

«We chose to hear from him on the issue to favor operations and consult the highest administrative expression of the city, being the mayor’s chief of staff. The side streets will return to the possession of the Municipality, the internal area will probably have a judicial aftermath – underlines Cammarota – because it is subjected to a preventive technical assessment.

The area that lies on the seafront, however, is linked to the aspect of state concessions not paid for by PCS, which are practically only occupied and on which no work has been done. This is good news because there is an obvious bottleneck at that point. I am satisfied because the concept I proposed 2 months ago has materialized. We will keep our attention high, especially on the legal matters that remain standing with the consequent waiting times.”
