The judges of the second criminal section of the Agrigento court, chaired by Wilma Angela Mazzara, acquitted a 48-year-old resident of Favara, who ended up on trial for the alleged crime of sexual violence. The alleged victim, a twenty-five-year-old Swiss national, never showed up despite being summoned several times to testify. The story dates back to 22 October 2019. The girl, on holiday alone in Agrigento, headed towards Piazza Marconi, looking for a bus to the Scala dei Turchi.

A few minutes later she was approached by the 48-year-old who, in kind tones, agreed to accompany her. The young woman trusted her and accepted the passage. Shortly afterwards, the man suddenly tried to put his hand behind the girl’s head to force her to perform oral sex on him. She immediately refused, and without being seen she sent a message to a friend in Switzerland, complete with a request for help.

“I was kidnapped in Agrigento by a man, and he put his hands on me. Help me”. The man, perhaps because he understood that he had made a big deal, would have accompanied her to the vicinity of the Scala dei Turchi, and then quickly walked away. In the hours that followed, the Swiss tourist was found, in a state of confusion, by two carabinieri, who were engaged for hours in an authentic search activity. The tourist then filed a complaint and provided the military with all the useful elements for identification.
