Noventa and Selvazzano on the podium

PADUA – The capital is in command, where the presence of great entrepreneurs and established professionals significantly raises the average wealth. They complete the podium Noventa and Selvazzano, then followed by Arquà Petrarca and Cittadella. At the rear, among the poorest territories, we find almost all of Lower Padua. The range shows a difference of ten thousand euros.

The ranking based on average incomes in all municipalities in the Province of Padua takes into consideration the declarations submitted by taxpayers in 2023 relating to the year 2022. The numbers were published by the Ministry of Economy and see Portofino in first place nationally with a dizzying figure: average income of 97,219 euros.

THE ANALYSIS
The processing of the Padua data was done for the Gazzettino by the Withub studio, also considering taxpayers who have zero declarations in the calculation. In Padua the average income is 27,936 euros, slightly higher than in Noventa. Then there is Selvazzano, Arquà (a village where many wealthy people have chosen to live) and Cittadella. Among the top ten municipalities we also find Albignasego, Vigonza (demonstrating the widespread wealth in the urban belt), Baone (where many pensioners with high incomes have decided to live to enjoy the air of the hills), Abano Terme and Rubano.
At the bottom of the ranking is Castelbaldo with an average income of 16,388 euros, preceded by Solesino, Casale di Scodosia, Piacenza d’Adige and Masi.

THE SATISFACTION
Marcello Bano, mayor of Noventa, smiles. «Ours is the first port of call for those who intend to leave the centre. The city is very attractive because of the Venetian villas, the greenery and the quality of life that we are trying to improve. Noventa is considered very convenient because it is close to the motorway, close to the city and close to the future hospital. We also invest in high-end residential.”
Cittadella has also been at the top of this ranking for years. «Here we have many services and economic activities work. Cittadella is attractive for the quality of life it offers and many choose to live here because it is good” underlines the mayor Luca Pierobon.
Abano’s colleague Federico Barbierato also comments on the data with satisfaction. «The average income increased by 5% compared to the previous year and the figure is in line with the quality of life that Abano offers. For some years the dynamic has been clear: the number of inhabitants is continuing to increase because many choose to come and live here rather than in Padua. This has also led to an increase in the cost of properties given that demand is high and availability is limited.”

IN LINE
Elvy Bentani from Solesino instead comments on an opposite situation, with her municipality penultimate in the ranking. «Here we have an economic fabric based on small and medium-sized businesses with many street vendors, including itinerant ones. The ever-increasing presence of shopping centers has brought difficulties to the surface. In the Upper Padua area there are many factories that offer greater guarantees of a job and also entrepreneurs with significant incomes that raise the average. In the Bassa there is also suffering in the construction sector: entrepreneurs invest from Abano upwards, especially in Albignasego. This impoverishes our territory: many families move to the urban belt and this also has repercussions at school level. Here various classes risk disappearing.”
