Atalanta starts strong and goes ahead in the 9th minute: insertion of Koopmeiners who kicks diagonally to beat Terracciano. Shortly afterwards the Dea scores a great goal with Scamacca but it is canceled out due to a foul at the start of the play by Koopmeiners on Beltran. The Viola tried with some long-range shots but also risked being doubled by the Bergamo players. Key episode at the beginning of the second half: De Ketelaere verticalizes for Scamacca who is brought down by Milenkovic on the edge of the area. It’s a clear scoring opportunity and a straight red card for the defender. Fiorentina remained with 10 men but in the 68th minute they equalized with Martinez Quarta heading a cross from Biraghi. In the 75th minute, however, Atalanta took the lead again: assist from De Ketelaere in the center of the area for Scamacca who beat Terracciano with a semi-inverted kick. With just a few seconds remaining in extra time, Gasperini’s team hits a counterattack with Lookman and then Pasalic in full injury time.
