From Pisa to Buddhism. Lidin’s choice: “I wasn’t happy”

The true meaning of Buddhism is in the etymology of the word: budh, in Sanskrit, means to become aware. Awaken from the past and reach a condition of full realization in the spirit. Kevin Lidin applied this theory perfectly. Abandoning the dream of a career as a footballer after years of sacrifices. He dedicated himself to the practice of yoga, to the study of psychology and for a month he chose to live like a hermit monk in northern Thailand: “I miss playing, but I suffered too much. I wasn’t happy and my body couldn’t hold up.” He arrived in Italy at the age of 18 starting from the Pisa youth team: “I did what I had always wanted, but I was constantly injured. I felt a terrible pain in my feet. My body has always been fragile.” Despite everything, the Swedish midfielder gritted his teeth and tried until the end: “The doctors couldn’t identify what problem I had. A doctor wanted to undergo six surgeries by implanting screws in my ankles and knees. That’s when I realized I had to stop. At 22 I abandoned football.”
