Syracuse Orange men’s basketball: Donnie Freeman rises in final 2024 rankings

As Adrian Autry continues to fill the 2024-25 Syracuse Orange roster, there is some good news to report.

Incoming forward Donnie Freeman has consistently risen in the recruiting rankings this year after his final season at IMG Academy. The McDonald’s All-American was also part of the Jordan Brand Classic this week and in yesterday’s final ESPN rankings, Freeman rose to 6th in his class.

This is what Biancardi had to say about Freeman and while we usually preach rational optimism, we can still be excited:

The productive IMG Academy (Florida) recruit climbs the list because of his consistent approach and long, athletic frame. Freeman’s footwork and shooting made great strides. He possesses a true inside-out scoring attack and rebounds on both ends of the floor. The forward can play inside or on the wing because of his excellent size and skill. Freeman will help Syracuse immediately, and NBA scouts were intrigued with his performance during McDonald’s week.

Across the other major recruiting sites, Freeman ranks 11th (Rivals), 12th (On3), and 23rd (247). Syracuse’s other incoming recruit, Elijah Moore is currently ranked 55th (247), 64th (Rivals), and 111th (On3). Moore was not ranked by ESPN.

We’ll see who else will be joining them in Syracuse this summer as the Orange look to fill out the roster via the transfer portal.
