Friday 26 April 2024at 7.30 pm, the “Languages of Art” exhibition at Galleria360 in Florence (via Borgo Ognissanti, 77r). The artistic event, scheduled until May 20, 2024, reflects on the infinite communicative possibilities of art and the constant ability of artists to redefine new expressive and conceptual alphabets.

The twentieth century in the artistic field has accustomed us to continuous twists and turns, showing us that alternative paths to the official and academic one can be followed. And he certainly did it in a disruptive way, starting a war that opens with a scream of colour, the expressionist one; a revolution that is subsequently fueled by the mechanical roar of Futurism, to then defragment reality into multiple points of view in the cubist atomic explosion. And if the obsession with the new and the desire to subvert the order of everything that was previously hegemonic animates the Dadaist denial, on the other hand the unconscious becomes fertile ground to be explored in order to bring out, through the psychic automatism of surrealist style, its secret contents.

Precisely when surrealism therefore tries to give shape to the shapelessness that emerged from the chaos into which the twentieth century seems to have fallen already at its beginning, we return to the lessons of the ancient masters and past cultures. This is the case of metaphysical experiences, where the recovery of classicism is not a determination of time but a spiritual category.

And finally, magical realism, poised between archaic candor and dreamy idyll, was not the last swan song of this intense and wild season of the twentieth-century avant-garde; the same desire to subvert pre-established codes and an incessant desire for experimentation also distinguishes our era. In fact, although different in spirit, as in the cultural climate, current times are characterized by the constant contamination of cultures and the coexistence of different languages. Biennials and international fairs are the most eloquent mirror of this artistic multilingualism constantly poised between a via crucis of the cruelly exhibited anti-aesthetic and the search for a new beauty in unprecedented aesthetic chimeras.

“Languages of Art” is therefore an exhibition that offers the opportunity to observe a great variety of directions and styles, highlighting the great richness of an artistic horizon that is increasingly heterogeneous and open to contamination. During the vernissage a welcome drink will be offered while Jazz musicians will play live.
