“Celebrations 25 April 2024” in Turin

On the occasion of celebrations of April 25, 2024the Liberation Daythe city of Turin offers a broad calendar of initiatives which, alongside traditional institutional commemorations, combines debates, readings, extraordinary openings, meetings dedicated to schools, film screenings and concerts

TO inaugurate officially the celebrationsas per tradition, is the torchlight procession on April 24thstarting at 8pm from Piazza Arbarello and arriving in Piazza Castello for the greeting of the authorities and the official speech by the historian Carlo Greppi.

Thursday 25 AprilInstead, the program includes:

• there institutional ceremony of tribute to the fallenat 10 am at the Monumental Cemetery;
• between proposals of the 20th century Polothe walks to discover the places of Memory and Resistance; there guided tour to the house of Piero and Ada Gobetti; the screenings of the film Many faces in memory by Francesca Comencini and the winning film of the section Making Memory of the Valsusa Filmfest; there lectio magistralis by Isabella Insolvible entitled Fight; The concert with live readings inspired by the historic 1964 Resistance concert at the Gobetti theatre; and thespecial opening of the Turin 38-48 exhibition, from the racial laws to the Constitution;
• Special openings also for the Royal Museums and Galleries of Italy, Palazzo Civico and its courtly halls, the Cinema Museum, the A come Ambiente Museum, the Egyptian Museum and the Diffuse Museum of the Resistance, the Prefecture building, the headquarters of the City Metro, the Martinetto Shrine and the house of Piero and Ada Gobetti, the Le Nuove Prison Museum, the Risorgimento Museum, the Agnelli Art Gallery;
• music, dance and theater shows Citywide;
• to close the day, at 9pm is the concert by Fatoumata Diawara, as part of the Torino Jazz Festival, at the Teatro Regio; the singer of Malian origins performs, accompanied by her band, in a show dedicated to resistant youth and especially to Dante Di Nanni.
